About NextGen Learners

Stories with a Brain

Where curiosity, neuroscience, and bedtime adventures meet.

NextGen Learners makes children’s books that pretend they’re stories but are secretly little neuroscience lessons. Kids don’t notice. Parents thank us.

We’re an independent children’s book publisher creating brain-based, emotionally intelligent stories for kids ages 3 to 10. We believe young readers can handle real ideas — neurons and feelings, choices and consequences, atoms and accountability — when those ideas come wrapped in characters they love and bedtime they look forward to.

Every book we publish is built on three things: actual developmental science, the warmth of a story told by someone who likes you, and a gentle insistence that children are not too small to understand the world. They are exactly the right size to start.

“Curiosity is contagious. We’re just trying to spread it.”

Our Collections

Nine signature lines, each one taking a different angle on how children learn — from brains and emotions to letters, colors, and the wide-open universe.

Think Like a Brain!™
Meet the parts of the brain as characters. The amygdala, the hippocampus, the prefrontal cortex — all whimsically introduced as friends who help kids understand their own minds.
Emotibles™
Creatures of the heart. Each Emotible is a feeling come to life — Joy, Anger, Fear, Hope — teaching emotional literacy through gentle, characterful adventures.
Empowerment™
Stories about choices, courage, and the small daily acts that shape who we become. Character-building without the moralizing.
Wonder Whyse™
Body, world, and life itself — books that answer the questions kids actually ask. Why do we sneeze? Where does rain come from? What happens when we sleep?
Periodic Playground™
All 118 elements, reimagined as a sprawling, colorful neighborhood. Chemistry told as friendship and family, one element at a time.
Legendary Letters™
Each letter of the alphabet starring in its own tiny epic. Phonics with personality.
Color Crew™
Colors as a friend group. Red is loud. Blue is calm. Yellow is curious. Together they teach color theory through everyday moments.
Shapetastic™
Geometry for the very young — circles, triangles, squares, and the worlds they build together.
Colorverse™
Where colors meet creatures meet cosmos. Our most imaginative collection — for kids who love big skies and big questions.

How We Make Books

Every NextGen Learners book starts with a question a child has actually asked. From there, we look up the science — real developmental psychology, neuroscience, and pedagogy — and only then begin building the story.

The whimsy is the delivery system. The science is the gift. We don’t water down hard ideas; we wrap them in warmth so children can carry them home. A four-year-old can absolutely understand the word “amygdala,” provided you introduce her to one she likes.

Every title is reviewed against three filters: Is it true? Is it tender? Is it the kind of book a kid asks to read again tomorrow? When the answer is yes to all three, it goes to print.

What We Believe

Children deserve real ideas

Big concepts, told with care, beat watered-down kid-speak every time. We trust young readers to handle truth.

Story is the delivery system

The whimsy is the wrapper. The science is the gift. Kids don’t read facts — they fall in love with characters.

Tenderness is non-negotiable

No condescension. No fear. No shaming. Every book is written with the warmth a parent reserves for a tucked-in child.

Curiosity is contagious

Our job is to light the fuse. Kids will carry the flame from there — into questions, classrooms, conversations, and dreams.

Where learning becomes understanding.
